Teuva High School

Overview

Our high school has 63 years of experience in secondary education. We grant scholarships to students who have graduated from our high school with an emphasis on future medical studies. We offer individual teaching and support to our students and we have a sports-oriented study program.

The Finnish climate is colder than in many other countries.

However, the weather varies significantly in different seasons.

Spring: around 10 to 15 °C

Summer: around 15 to 25 °C

Fall: around 5 to 15°C

Winter: around -25 to +5 °C

80 km to Seinäjoki - 370 km to Helsinki - 200 km to Tampere - 80 km to Vaasa - 30 km to Kauhajoki (with a connection to the railway station), 20 km to Närpiö.

The connections from Teuva to other municipalities are limited. Two buses run every day at 6.45 am and 2.05 pm to Seinäjoki through Kauhajoki and one bus leaves for Seinäjoki at 9.45 am. In addition, four buses run from Kauhajoki to Teuva several times a day at 1.15 pm, 1.40 pm, 3.45 pm, and 9 pm.

The nearest airports are in Vaasa (80 km) and in Tampere (200 km), from which there are connections to Helsinki.

Prominent services can be found in the downtown area. A healthcare center, a pharmacy, student accommodation, a movie theater, a public pool and a gym, stores, cafeterias, restaurants, and a library are located within a 1.5 km radius of the school.

Motivation Video:

You can start sending motivation videos by 21.2.2023, Videos must be in Finnish approx. 5-10min. You can send video links to email lukio@teuva.fi. Deadline for videos is 13.3.2023.

Entrance Interview:

Candidates for interview will be selected based on motivation videos. We send interview invitations earliest 13.3.2023.

Study line

Sports-oriented study program.

We have a sports-oriented study program that allows students to do a variety of sports diversely. Those who have chosen the sports-oriented study program can go to the gym and the swimming pool for free. It is possible to complete a total of 11 study units in physical education and a sports diploma at our high school. You can also participate in sports camps at the Olympic Training Center in Kuortane.

Expenses

A dormitory room costs 100 € per month per student including electricity, water, and waste management. Additional insurance is not required. The price also includes a wireless internet connection.

Accommodation

Located 2 km from the school, there is a dormitory available in which there are two-bedroom dormitory rooms. The kitchens in the dormitory rooms are equipped with the most essential kitchenware: a stove/oven, a combined refrigerator, and freezer, a coffee maker, a water cooker, a microwave oven, and sets of dishes for four people. The list of furniture: an 80 cm wide bed, a blanket and a pillow, a drawer or a closet, and a desk. The resident is responsible for the cleaning of their dormitory room and the cleaning equipment will be provided free of charge. It is possible to rent a bicycle for 5 euros per week. The kitchen and the bathroom are divided between two dormitory rooms. It is possible to do the laundry in the building.

Free: tuition, laptop, lunch, learning materials, textbooks, e-learning environment, student healthcare, tutor for international students.

Student counselors, principals, homeroom teachers, and the members of student welfare services follow study progress and meetings are held if necessary.

Group orientation day. Presentation to local students at the beginning of the school year.

Collaboration with the members of the student board.

We are looking for social, independent and responsible students, who enjoy the countryside.
